Final Denial
Your claim has been denied. Fight it.
Blue is a healer in the kingdom of Indemnia, where every cure needs the Guild's approval and the water that heals is locked away. She's sick, she's burned out, and a nine-year-old named Po needs care the Guild won't approve. So Blue stops asking permission.
Final Denial is a retro turn-based RPG that takes healthcare, insurance and burnout personally.
- Golden Chains: weapon skills carry an emotion (Rage, Numb, Dread or Hope). Mix them into chains, then burst them with matching spells.
- Burnout is a status effect: push your party too hard and they quiet-quit until they get some rest.
- Bosses you've met in real life: the Hold Queue, the Deductible, the Peer Reviewer (board certified in astrology), the Air Ambulance bill.
- Six party members, six chapters and a finale. Then New Game+.
- Four difficulty Plans, from Platinum (everything's covered) to Bronze (saving costs a copay).
Content note. Final Denial is a comedy, but it deals with chronic illness, a seriously ill child, medical debt, insurance denials and caregiver burnout. Nothing is graphic.
This is a beta. The story is complete through the credits, but the writing is a first draft and the balance is still being tuned. If something breaks or confuses you, open the menu (X) and choose Report a problem, then leave a comment below with what it shows and what happened.
Controls. Arrow keys or WASD to move, Z or Enter to confirm, X or Esc for the menu and to go back. On a phone or tablet, use the on-screen pad. Help is in the menu.
Saving. Save on the world map, at any Member Services Kiosk, or by resting at an inn. Saves stay in your browser, so use the same browser to keep playing.
Made by Jolar Bear Studios. No real insurer was named in the making of this game. Denial codes are real. Sorry.
